A prayer and worship event drawing together people to pray for the empowering of the Hoy Spirit to help people be effective witnesses.
Cathedral Beacon event:
A large scale prayer and worship event in a cathedral drawing together people from across a diocese to pray for the empowering of the Hoy Spirit to help them be effective witnesses.
These will include a number of focused activities and events from 24-7 prayer, to prayer walking, prayer stations, children's prayer times, half nights of prayer and any other events individuals or churches organise between Ascension and Pentecost ( 25 May to 4 June)
Host a cathedral beacon event
Around the world during Pentecost various cathedrals are hosting beacon events. These will be the culmination of all that has happened around each diocese engaging in ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.
“In praying 'Thy Kingdom Come' we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities." Archbishop Justin Welby
We gather at Pentecost to seek a fresh empowering of the Holy Spirit, to pray and worship and to be sent out as witnesses.
Our hope is that people will pray for the renewal of the Holy Spirit and fresh confidence to share their faith.

Host a Beacon Event
We would love it if you hosted a Beacon event. All it needs to be is a meeting outside of your normal worshipping patterns whereby people gather to pray and worship.
We would suggest 3 basic elements to give your service a unifying nature with everything else that is happening around the world.
That you would share this great short video from Archbishop Justin: Click here to download: coming soon If you can’t show a video, it may be helpful to have someone read the script of the video.
If at some point in your evening everyone could pray this prayer;
Almighty God, your ascended Son has sent us into the world to preach the good news of your kingdom: inspire us with your Spirit and fill our hearts with the fire of your love, that all who hear your word may be drawn to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord
3. It would be great if everyone left with a tool to help them regularly pray for 5 people who don’t yet follow Jesus. One suggested activity: a prayer band that can be ordered here (I don’t understand this bit? you can order the prayer bands as a response?)
You can find some helpful resource for your service here - https://www.thykingdomcome.global/prayerresources#churches,
And finally - don’t forget to tell us about your event, you can register it here: www.kingdomcome.global/events
If you do decide to run your own event we have found that it is helpful for the event to have one simple aim: To pray for a renewal of the Holy Spirit and fresh confidence to share our faith.
Also, check out in your town and city what is already happening in your area. You can do this by going to: www.thykingdom.global/events
This is a global wave of prayer and we are so excited to see churches praying throughout the world. We have provided lots of resources to help you and your church engage in a focused time of prayer as part of Thy Kingdom Come.
There are a wide range of ideas and free resources to download.
We would love to see 24-7 prayer rooms, prayer walks, prayer meetings, children’s prayer times, half nights of prayer and whatever else might work in your situation taking place all over the world during these days.
Alongside all these prayer activities cathedrals, churches and other venues will host Beacon Events, gathering people across towns and cities to worship and to pray as a culmination of the 10 days of prayer.
We also have resources to promote events, giveaways for your congregations and ideas for services can be bought on the CPO website.
